Scholastic Award Program

Purpose

The purpose of this scholastic award is to recognize and promote academic effort, community involvement, and other meaningful endeavors of the youth of the community of which we serve.

Award Description

Two (2) awards in the amount of five hundred dollars ($500.00) each will be presented to a graduating senior male and female of a local school at the time of commencement ceremonies or other awards ceremony.  Each award will be a one-time payment.

Eligibility

The awards are open to all high school seniors graduating at the completion of the 2012-2013 school year who are residents of the Town of Pendleton (response area of the Wendelville Fire Co., Inc.).

Selection

Selection for the award will be made by the Scholastic Award Committee of the Wendelville Fire Company based on a number of factors including: academic performance, extracurricular activities, and community involvement.  As essay of approximately 200 words on the following topic will also be used as part of the selection criteria: How does the willingness of individuals to volunteer make our community a better place to live and work?
